DESCRIPTION:Youth and Non – Youth Fishbowl Gathering \nRegional Councils of ARW\, HF and WOW in partnership with The Hub and Trinity UC Kitchener-\nTuesday Sept 26\, 2023\, evening \nBackground: Post-COVID\, Youth leaders struggle to put together groups. A message often heard from youth in the church is that what’s being offered doesn’t work for them. Being an intercultural church includes finding ways to bridge communication between different age groups/generations. \nGoal– To offer a forum that brings together youth and non-youth in the church– a forum that allows the two groups to hear one another and be heard by one another\, and to consider what might be the Spirit’s invitation to the church for youth ministry at this time. \nFISHBOWL PROCESS: \nEight Youth (teens to twenty-somethings) and eight Non-Youth (40s-90+) from WOW\, HF and ARW Regional Councils will gather via Zoom. \n\nDiscussion questions will invite each to share and listen to experiences of their own youth faith formation\, and hopes and challenges for youth ministry then and now.\nOn each question\, using the Zoom spotlight feature to focus on one group of eight:\n\nYouth will invite one another to share\, while the Non-Youth listen.\nPlaces will be switched\, and the Non-Youth will invite one another to share while the Youth listen.\nFor some questions\, the order might be reversed\, with Non-Youth sharing first\n\n\nAfter several rounds of sharing in separate groups\, Youth and Non-Youth will have an opportunity to reflect together as one group.\n\nEach group will be invited to reflect on what they have heard and consider possible next steps. \nParticipants will be given questions for reflection and feedback\, to be submitted in writing following the session. \nThis is a cross-cultural listening event\, and a pilot project. This session will not focus on problem solving or planning. Join us at Skylight the weekend of July 15 to 17\, where you can connect with diverse communities\, collectively explore faith through the lens of the arts\, nature\, peace and justice. Find out more on our website. \nWhat is the Skylight Festival?\nFounded in 2015 by people passionate about the arts\, faith and justice\, Skylight is a celebratory and creative space where diverse communities connect to explore arts\, faith\, peace and justice. \nHow did it come about?\nIn 2013 a group of United Church leaders and Mennonite Church Canada leaders attended the Greenbelt Festival of faith\, justice and arts in the U.K. In 2014 a group of UC folk attended the Wild Goose Festival and were inspired to brainstorm ideas for a Canadian version. \nThey were excited! By early 2015 there was a movement to create a similar festival in Canada. And there was so much passion that that festival materialized in that summer! And every summer since. At the Paris Fairgrounds. And now at Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre (since 2018). \nThe contributions of The United Church of Canada\, EDGE\, The United Church of Canada Network for Ministry Development and the Mennonite Church Canada have been key to the sustainability of the festival.

DESCRIPTION:Attend a national gathering for peace\, justice & human rights in Palestine Israel! \nThe United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine/Israel (UNJPPI) is a country-wide network of people\, many connected with the United Church of Canada\, who are concerned about justice and peace in Palestine/Israel. We focus on advocacy\, education to uphold human rights and justice in the region. \nEvery year\, UNJPPI organizes a national gathering. Now that pandemic restrictions have eased up we are grateful for the opportunity to gather again for the first time since 2019 and would like to invite you to join! \nWe meet May 5-8\, 2022 in London\, Ontario.
