DESCRIPTION:  \nClick for Agenda\nClick for Registration Form\n\nSummer Event 2023 \nRegistration & Coffee – 8:45 am. \nProgram – 9:15 am \nDean: Mary Dillon \nRegistrar: Linda Britton \n  \nPROGRAM \nTheme Speaker: Mona Wuytenberg\, Karen’s Place \nAfternoon Entertainment: Dunwich Highland Ringers \n  \nRegion Participation \nGreeters………………………………………….Essex \nRefreshments…………………………………….Oxford \nHymn Sing……………………………………….Lynda Stinchcombe\, Elgin \nMorning Worship & Communion………………..Lambton \nOffering…………………………………………..Elgin \nBook Room………………………………………Fairmont Resource Centre \nGrace……………………………………………..Essex \nThank Speaker……………………………………Kent \nCourtesies…………………………………………Middlesex \n  \nBe sure to visit the Book Room when you arrive and at noon hour! \n  \nWelcome to Summer Event! \nPlease remember we are SCENT-FREE.   Long-time participants will reconnect with old friends and make new ones.  New “Eventers” will join to celebrate\, laugh\, sing\, hug and leave refreshed\, faith-filled\, and planning to return next year. \n  \nGUEST SPEAKER – Mona Wuytenburg \nShe is 54 years old and lives just north of the city with her husband Rob.  They have raised four children\, two girls and two boys\, who are now all in their twenties. \nKaren’s Place London is an initiative to honour the memory of Karen Crich and to recognize her generosity among women in need and her commitment to support the empowerment of women in our community.  After doing some research\, it became very apparent that there was a true need for helping older\, homeless women.  There are so many more homeless people than there are spaces in shelters and most of the shelter spaces allotted to women are given to young mothers with children.   We chose to help women over 50 and we wanted to create a transitional living program that would identify the problems that caused their homelessness\, offer the support necessary to deal with the issues and give these women some time to come in off the street and regain all the necessary skills to live healthily and independently in a safe environment.  Thus\, Karen’s Place London was created. \n  \nAFTERNOON ENTERTAINMENT- Dunwich Highland Ringers \nA small group of interested people in Dutton got a taste of ringing English Handbells way back in the spring of 2015 and we were hooked!  Fast forward to early 2019 when contact was made with a willing teacher from London. \nThen COVID struck\, shutting us down in March 2020.  We were able to return to group practices in the fall of 2021.  We had some members choose not return to play bells.  We welcomed some new ringers and our learning nearly had to start over.  There was another brief shutdown when COVID made a resurgence in early 2022 but we are back to weekly practices\, learning new music and techniques.  We have played the prelude a few Sundays at Dunwich United Church and we have even travelled to entertain a group at Christmas and another group this spring. \nOur repertoire includes secular and non-secular music\, and we are fortunate to have some pieces enhanced with cello or recorder.  Some of our ringers are very talented!  We look forward to playing for you.
