DESCRIPTION:Join us online Wednesday\, September 24th at 10:00-11:30 AM for Strawberry Thanksgiving and Communion\, and take your acknowledgement of Territory to the next level by considering the Spiritual Covenant. \nMany congregations who have been acknowledging the territory for the past few years are asking what meaningful action they can take to move their acknowledgment from words to actions. You are invited to Strawberry Thanksgiving and Communion\, an online opportunity to begin the conversation about making a spiritual covenant. \nYou’re warmly invited\nto this special event featuring Adrian Jacobs of the Turtle Clan\, Cayuga Nation\, sharing on the Spiritual Covenant—a reflection on land\, relationship\, and reconciliation on Wednesday\, September 24th\, from 10:00-11:30 AM. \nAdrian Jacobs will offer a leadership in this workshop and communion service that will inform and inspire the discernment of churches on any traditional territory who wish to consider concrete action to live into their acknowledgment of territory. The workshop and worship will be grounded in history and scripture\, and will invite you to deeper relationship with the land and the peoples on the land\, and the Creator\, Christ and Spirit. (For more information about the Strawberry Thanksgiving and Communion and the Spiritual Covenant\, see below.) \nThe road to a decision about a faithful action by your community of faith is an ongoing journey. Come prepared to engage and to learn\, and then bring your reflections to your home church for prayerful consideration. \nBread and Juice for Communion\nThis workshop will include an online communion service\, so have your own juice and bread ready. Feb. 2nd Ottawa\, Ontario Join us for a weekend in Ottawa for Winterlude activities\, a museum experience and gather with us for Dinner and Worship Saturday night at Southminster United Church (15 Aylmer Ave\, Ottawa)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$75 per participant (Registration fee) plus spending money and enough $ for 2 lunches and 1 supper extra.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYouth and youth groups will need to be accompanied by an adult. Join us at Skylight the weekend of July 15 to 17\, where you can connect with diverse communities\, collectively explore faith through the lens of the arts\, nature\, peace and justice. Find out more on our website. \nWhat is the Skylight Festival?\nFounded in 2015 by people passionate about the arts\, faith and justice\, Skylight is a celebratory and creative space where diverse communities connect to explore arts\, faith\, peace and justice. \nHow did it come about?\nIn 2013 a group of United Church leaders and Mennonite Church Canada leaders attended the Greenbelt Festival of faith\, justice and arts in the U.K. In 2014 a group of UC folk attended the Wild Goose Festival and were inspired to brainstorm ideas for a Canadian version. \nThey were excited! By early 2015 there was a movement to create a similar festival in Canada. And there was so much passion that that festival materialized in that summer! And every summer since. At the Paris Fairgrounds. And now at Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre (since 2018). \nThe contributions of The United Church of Canada\, EDGE\, The United Church of Canada Network for Ministry Development and the Mennonite Church Canada have been key to the sustainability of the festival.
