Mark is a Diaconal Minister serving as Regional Council Executive Minister. Pastoral Support Minister

Laurie recognizes that the work of Pastoral Support for Ministry Personnel is vital for the health of the church. Those who serve in ministry often balance the spiritual care of others with the demands of leadership, administration, and personal life. Laurie brings to this work more than 25 years of experience in a variety of ministry contexts and a deep understanding of the pressures and challenges clergy face. She recognizes the importance of prioritizing clergy wellness, uplifting and encouraging those who serve, and ensuring that their ministry is met with care, connection, and appreciation for the sacred work they do.

John was raised in Calgary. He has a Ph.D. in New Testament studies from Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto. His dissertation was on Paul’s use of the Hagar/Sarah motif in his letter to the Galatians and how it has been spun in the history of interpretation. This was a kind of case study into how biblical texts have been (i.e., can be) misread in the history of the church and the dangers thereof.

The Rev. Greg Smith-Young (he/him) serves as Growth and Stewardship Animator for Western Ontario Waterways and Antler River Watershed regional councils. As General Council staff deployed to the region, he accompanies communities of faith as they strengthen their invitation to neighbours and friends, cultivate their culture and practices of generous stewardship, and step into their future with courageous trust. Greg is energized and hopeful about how we can live Christ’s transforming presence within our neighbourhoods, faithfully stewarding God’s gifts for the sake of God’s world. He believes that Jesus continues to call us into his work: exploring and discovering, experimenting and learning, humbly open and boldly confident in the Spirit.

Greg served with Hope Springs UC (an amalgamation of Alma, Bethany, and Elora UCs) near Guelph, Ontario. He also served with Grace UC in Hornepayne, north of Lake Superior. He lives in Elora with his spouse and their high-maintenance dog. He has adult children who live in Peterborough and Banff.
