Celebration of Ministries Service LIVE STREAM
Celebration of Ministry Service
If provincial legislation and public health guidelines permit, regional council leadership will conduct the celebration of ministry service as part of the meeting. The leadership and candidates will meet in person (following social distancing guidelines as required) and live-stream the service for regional council participation. If this is not possible at that time, we will facilitate the celebration of ministry when those involved can gather together. Candidates may choose to be part of this modified service or to wait until a more fulsome celebration can be held.
The regional council is encouraged to hold the candidates in prayer. The candidates’ understanding and patience is appreciated. The delay has no impact on their remuneration or the services they may provide in ministry.
Further details will be posted as they become available.
How are you Called to Be the Church as a member of the Antler River Watershed Regional Council?
Holding and Encouraging Communities of Faith is the Antler River Watershed Regional Council’s (ARWRC) purpose statement. ARWRC fulfills this goal in part by connecting communities of faith with one another and with the United Church as a whole.
In the regional council, there are decision making bodies and resource pools. Details about the work of each can be found in the Governance Handbook.
The decision-making bodies of the Executive, Covenant Commission, Human Resources Commission and Mission and Discipleship Commission meet regularly to make the decisions entrusted to the regional council.
At the 2020 fall meeting, the regional council will fill the following vacancies through the election of new members:
- Covenant Commission: maximum 5 spots
- Human Resources Commission: maximum 3 spots
- Mission & Discipleship Commission: minimum 1 spot, maximum 6 spots
- Executive: 2 spots
These positions are open to anyone who is a full member in good standing in a congregation within the bounds of the regional council.
If you would be willing to let your name stand as a nominee for one of these positions, please complete the Expression of Interest Form by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30 at 7:00 pm. This information (minus your personal contact details) will be available to regional council members for consideration before voting.
If you prefer a more time-limited involvement, please volunteer to assist in one of the resource pools. Details regarding the resource pools are also in the Governance Handbook. All resource pool volunteers will be contacted directly by the Commission selected.
Either as a member of the resource pool or one of the decision-making bodies, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the church and develop skills of benefit to your home community of faith.
If you have questions about the work of the Commissions and/or Executive, feel free to contact President Joyce Payne, or the Commission Chair for more details.
- President Joyce Payne
- Covenant Commission Chair Marie Santos
- Human Resources Commission Chair Olav Kitchen
- Mission & Discipleship Commission Chair Robin Sherman
Thank you for your prayerful discernment of how you might serve.
Dear Members of Antler River Watershed Regional Council,
Are you our next regional council President? Do you care about Holding and Encouraging Communities of Faith? If so, this is one way to participate in that ministry!
At the October 2020 Fall meeting the regional council will be electing its next President. The new President will assume office immediately as of the rise (or conclusion) of the Fall 2020 meeting.
President Joyce Payne is relocating outside of our regional council and has resigned her office as of then. Her commitment to, and care for the communities of faith and ministry personnel in the regional council, has been a blessing. She will be missed! If assuming the role immediately concerns you, please talk with me.
More details, including the Position Description, can be found in the Antler River Watershed Regional Council Governance Handbook.
Is this the next great adventure God has waiting for you?
Being President is an opportunity that you do not want to miss. There is no other single event in my years in ministry that had the impact being President of Conference did. It shaped my understanding of myself and of how I offer leadership. I am grateful for what I learned and how I was formed for ministry through the experience of being President.
Consider yourself tapped on the shoulder!
If you would be willing to let your name stand as a nominee for president, please complete the Expression of Interest Form by FRIDAY OCTOBER 30 at 6 PM. This information (minus your personal contact details) will be available to regional council members for consideration before voting. Nominees will be speaking to the regional council before the election for up to 5 minutes via Zoom on Saturday morning, October 31st.
Please prayerfully consider letting your name stand as a nominee.
